Accession and Coronation
Robert acceded to the throne on the 16th of October 2022 following King George's departure from the United Kingdom. A day later, King Robert was formally proclaimed King at the meeting of the Accession Council at Windsor Castle on the 17th of October 2022.
The coronation of King Robert I marked a significant moment in the history of the kingdom. His coronation, held on the 11th of December 2022, was a grand event attended by dignitaries, nobles, and representatives from across the realm and the Commonwealth. The ceremony took place in Westminster Abbey and lasted around an hour and a half.
During the coronation, King Robert I received St. Edward's Crown, a powerful symbol of his authority and legitimacy as the Monarch. The crown, adorned with precious gemstones and elaborate designs, was carefully placed on his head by the Archbishop of Canterbury, signifying the divine approval of his reign as King.
Early Reign
The King's first address to the British Public outlined his committment to duty, service and the Commonwealth of Nations. The King stated: "I am speaking to you today to pledge to you my service as your King ... It is my hope that we go forward in future with the best interests of the Kingdom and the Commonwealth in our minds."
