Theresa Priestly is a British politician serving as Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs since March 2023. She has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds, Newham, Southend-on-Sea Southwark, and Newport since November 2022, and is a former Conservative MP for Southend-on-Sea.

Political Career

United Kingdom

Priestly was an MP under the leadership of each of RebaAstor (Labour Party), TheBritishUnion (Conservative Party), and DeanRHeathcote(Labour Party). She served as an MP for Southwark from the 2nd of December 2022 to the 7th of January 2023. On the 10th of October 2022, she was elected to the constituency of Newport for the in the 69th Parliament. As a Conservative Member of Parliament, she also served as a Member of the 1922 Committee, representing the Committee at one point on the Conservative Party's board. After the next general elections, she defected to Labour, where she became the Member of Parliament for Newham. On the 29th of March, she became the Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs.

Northern Ireland

Priestly joined Northern Ireland on the 23rd of January 2023, where she has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for West Tyrone for the 11th Northern Irish Assembly, and during the same term, she became the Speaker of the Assembly, a position she occupies to this day.

Gibraltar

Priestly joined Gibraltar on the 4th of March 2023, where she was elected as a Gibraltar First Member of Parliament for the 3rd Gibraltarian Parliament. The following term she became the Chief Whip for Gibraltar First. She resigned from her position on the 2nd of June 2023.
