Geolyre, Baron Geolyre of Ipswich, Kt MBE KPM PC is a senior civil servant, life peer and former senior member of the Metropolitan Police who has served as Permanent Secretary to His Majesty's Treasury since the 9th of March 2022, alongside holding numerous other positions.
Career
His Majesty's Treasury
The Lord Geolyre of Ipswich has had several tenures within His Majesty's Treasury, initially joining on 10th July 2018 as a Registrar within the Companies House. He held this position for approximately six months before resigning. On 22nd April 2019, he rejoined as a Registrar again, before becoming Private Secretary to the Chancellor. He rejoined for a third time on 4th June 2020, again as a Registrar for the Companies House. Geolyre was appointed Chief Registrar of the Companies House on 23rd April 2021 and held the role for 10 months before being appointed Permanent Secretary of the department. Notably, Geolyre is credited with the creation of Transport for London, as well as being its longest-serving Commissioner.
Parliament
In Parliament, Geolyre has held various positions within both chambers of the Houses of Parliament. He has served as a Conservative Member of Parliament for Whitby & Scarborough during the 49th and 52nd Parliaments. On 20th September 2021, he was appointed Assistant Clerk of the House of Commons and was later appointed a Life Peer of the House of Lords on 12th March 2022. He served as Clerk of the House of Commons from 16th April 2022 until his resignation on 30th October 2022.
Metropolitan Police Service
Geolyre served in the Greater Manchester Police, joining as a Student Constable on 19th April 2020, and later in the Metropolitan Police Service. His police career involved roles in the Tactical Firearms Unit, Royalty and Specialist Protection Command, and National Police Air Service. He held various administrative and training roles and was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector in July 2021. He resigned from the Metropolitan Police Service as a Chief Superintendent on 22nd March 2022.
Military Service
In his military career, Geolyre has served in the Royal Navy's Submarine Service and the Royal Air Force's No.1 Group and No.2 Group. He currently serves as a Corporal in the Royal Air Force's No.2 Group and is a member of the Royal Military Police.
Cabinet Office
Within the Cabinet Office, Geolyre has held the roles of Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and National Security Adviser. He is also a rotary member of the National Security Council.
Royal Household
Since 27th April 2023, Geolyre has held the position of Principal Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales.

Throughout his career, Geolyre has been recognised for his service with several honours. These include:
He was awarded the King's Police Medal for Gallantry as part of the 2021 New Year Honours.
- In recognition of his work in the Metropolitan Police Service, he was presented the British Empire Medal during the 2021 Easter Honours.
- For his continued service in the Metropolitan Police Service, he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the 2022 New Year Honours.
- He was conferred the title of Knight Bachelor in the 2022 Coronation Honours.
