On the 14th of April 2023, Edward was elected by Conservative backbenchers to serve as the [[Conservative and Unionist Party|Chairman of the 1922 Committee]] following the resignation of the former Chairman, [[Marcus_Stuyvestant]]. On April 14th, 2023, Conservative backbenchers elected Edward as the Chairman of the 1922 Committee, succeeding the former Chairman, MarcusStuyvesant.
