EdwardCathcart, CB is a British Senior Civil Servant, Barrister and former politician who currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Gibraltar and the Clerk Assistant to the House of Commons. He has previously served as Principal Private Secretary to three Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Career within the United Kingdom
British Politics
EdwardCathcart first embarked on his political career in the United Kingdom as the Conservative Member of Parliament for West Mercia following benjaminhenley's victory at the March 2023 General Election. His tenure as MP for West Mercia extended from the 11th of March to the 13th of May, 2023.
During his time as an MP, Edward also assumed the role of Parliamentary Private Secretary to two former Home Secretaries, UK_ThinBlueLine and VictorDClaudinho, serving in this capacity from the early days of the 72nd term until the 22nd of April, 2023. On April 14th, 2023, Conservative backbenchers elected Edward as the Chairman of the 1922 Committee, succeeding the former Chairman, MarcusStuyvesant. Shortly thereafter, on April 22nd, 2023, Prime Minister TheBritishUnion appointed Edward as Minister of State for Emergency Services. However, Edward made the decision to officially resign from politics on May 7th, 2023, in pursuit of a career in the Royal Navy.
Northern Irish Politics
In Northern Ireland, EdwardCathcart formerly held the position of Chairman of the Northern Irish Conservative Party from April 10th to May 5th, 2023. He also served as the Northern Irish Minister of State for Borders and Policing during the administrations of CH3RRYLICI0US and ScriptedSid. Additionally, Edward represented the constituency of Londonderry as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from March 18th to May 3rd, 2023.
Civil Service
Following his resignation from mainstream politics, Edward pursued a career in the Civil Service and joined the National Archives before it was reintroduced as a Non-Ministerial Department. On the 24th of May 2023, the National Archives was reinstated as a Non-Ministerial department under Edward's leadership as Chief Executive Officer and Keeper of the Records, subsequently making him a Senior Civil Servant within His Majesty's Civil Service. On the 9th of June 2023, Edward was chosen and announced as the Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
International Career
Gibraltar
On July 14th, 2023, Edward received unanimous support when he was elected as the Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament during the inaugural session of the fifth term. Following the conclusion of the fifth Parliamentary Term in Gibraltar, Edward took on the role of Clerk to the Parliament of Gibraltar. Moreover, he has contributed his services in the Governor of Gibraltar's Private Office, serving as one of two Assistant Private Secretaries to Governor CallumCathcart and Governor Krazee02.

Archivist
Edward is a passionate Archivist who pushed strongly for the reintroduction of the National Archives and other Archiving institutions. Alongside his leadership position in the National Archives he is also an Independent Trustee, former Chairman and supporter of the National Portrait Gallery and the Deputy Keeper of the Royal Archives based at Windsor Castle.
